In the Spirit: The Power of I AM!

Throughout your day, your words are energizing the power of the "I AM" stories that you tell yourself about yourself and to others.

When you think about the words that you use to describe yourself to yourself, and to others, are you describing yourself in a way that makes you feel good about yourself and your progress in life or, are you describing yourself in a that makes you feel bad about yourself and disappointed about the level of progress that you have made in your life? In either case, your words have power and they reflect what you believe about yourself.

The Power of "I AM" in My Life

Ever since I was child, I was told that I was smart. So, I believed that I was smart. No, I wasn't a straight A student each year of my secondary education. However, that didn't stop me from believing in my smarts. When faced with challenging homework assignments, I pressed in to figure out how to solve them to the best of my ability and usually my extra effort produce…

In the Spirit: Reasons Why You Should Be More Accepting of Yourself!

“It's amazing what ordinary people can do if they set out without preconceived notions.” ~Charles F. Kettering~

How many times have you thought about taking a leap of faith to do something different, to experience something different, and you talked yourself out of it?

If we're honest with ourselves, most of us have had this experience at one time or another. Often when this occurs in my life, it comes down to me thinking that I need to "perfect myself in some way" before I can begin to take meaningful action towards what it is that I want to manifest.

Funny thing, I didn't always think this way. Many of my accomplishments in my 20's and 30's came about because I wanted to make something happened and I just believed that I would figure it all as I move forward. And by George, in most of the situations that's exactly what happened!

Whenever I focus my attention on my imperfections regarding doing something different, it creates an internal roadblock and p…

A Simple Guide to Living Life Well

How do you perceive your life to be going according to your perspective? The view that you have regarding your well-being is subjective to your moods. At any moment, your moods affect the level of satisfaction you feel towards life. Wouldn't you rather have your well-being attached to an idea, thought, or concept that provides you with an approach to living well that is not so wishy-washy as your moods can be under various circumstances?

Martin  Seligman, recognized as the father of positive psychology, developed a theory on well-being which he abbreviates as "PERMA".  He outlines his theory in the book, Flourish: A Visionary New Understanding of Happiness and Well-being. "PERMA" stands for:

P = Positive Emotions - experiencing joy and pleasure
E = Engagement (or flow) - being consciously involved in our activities.
R = Relationships - having enjoyable and supportive interactions with others.
M = Meaning - creating a purposeful narrative about our lives.
A = Accompl…

How-to Become Courageous!

Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point.~C.S. Lewis ~

Have you ever wondered how much more you would do if you were courageous? When we are more courageous, we don't have to live with thoughts such as:

"What if I hadn't given up?" "What if I had tried another approach?" "What if I had persevered when the going got tough?"
Remember, courage is not the absence of fear, it is taking action in the face of fear. I wrote about a recent personal lesson on courage here.
Margie Warrell says, "Courage is like a muscle. The more we use it, the stronger it gets!" That's good news.
In the following video, Margie shares a few simple steps that we can begin to apply today to become more courageous.

The idea of taking baby steps beyond your comfort zone to build up your courage muscle is practical and doable by you. I'll like to know your thoughts on the baby steps you can begin to take to build your …

Don't Let Anybody Talk You Out of Your Dreams!

You have to protect your dreams. So many of the external messages that we are exposed to deflate our hopes that we can attain our dreams. This is especially true if you are 50+ as I am.

Regardless of your age, race, gender or circumstances, you have the freedom to choose the level of happiness and progress that you experience in life.

Our happiness is directly influenced by the level of progress we are making in life. Think about the times that you feel you are moving forward, aren't you happier then when you feel as if your life is stuck and going no where? You're nodding your head, YES! Right?

We are divinely designed to evolve and our dreams provide us with focus and direction for our energies and resources.

The following video from one of my all-time favorite movies reminds you of the importance of standing up for your dreams.

I recommend that you schedule time on a daily basis to nurture your sense of hope and faith. Your actions will help you remain connected to the desire in your heart that inspired you in the first place.
The following video by Les Brown shares why it's important to develop courage. Check out my latest post on the lesson I learned as to why courage is essential to living your best life here.

In the Spirit: Connecting with the Right People

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. ~Proverbs 27:17~
The dreams that you have in your heart is too big for you to achieve them alone.
One of the keys to manifesting your dreams will be based on the people you choose to have in your inner circle. The quality of the people that we spend most of our time with has an influence on how much we will grow and accomplish in life.
Your inner circle needs to consist of individuals who believe in you and your dreams. You need to spend most of your time around people who are consistently challenging you to be better, do better and live better.
I know what is holding you back. All of us want to feel as if we belong. The people that we hang around with gives us a sense of belonging. It is a innate need that is not going to go away. And, whenever we are challenged with the thought that we may need to reduce the time we spend with people in our lives who are not influencing us to be our best self so that we can manifest our highest good, ou…

Meet Jackie: 25 Things I've Never Told You

I was reading through a recent post by Scott Dinsmore of Live Your Legend regarding his recent experiences during the World Domination event. He shared insights from numerous speakers who presented their message about how they are taking an idea and having positive impact on our world. I recommend that you read it here.

One of the individuals that he gave a shout out to is Amy Clover of Strong Inside Out. I clicked onto Amy's about page and found that she had accepted a challenge by Corbett Barr of Think Traffic to bloggers, encouraging us to share more of our personality with our community. His challenge can be found here.

So like Amy, I've decided to take on his challenge with this post. In the coming months, my blog, Grow Forward & Flourish will be undergoing a makeover. As I emmbark on the next chapter of creating a world class blog and online business site, I'm inspired to share 25 Things I've Never Shared With You Before...

In The Spirit: How-to Be Fully Committed to Living Your Best Life

Our ordinary mind always tries to persuade us
that we are nothing but acorns
and that our greatest happiness will be
to become bigger, fatter, shinier acorns;
but that is of interest only to pigs.
Our faith gives us knowledge of something better:
that we can become oak trees.
~ E. F. Schumacher~

Are you talking yourself out of what's possible in your life because of your fears, thoughts of uncertainty and doubt (F.U.D.)?
Have you allowed your negative mind chatter, challenging circumstances, and naysayers cause you to believe that you aren't capable of manifesting positive change in some area of your life? Are you living a defeated life as a result of these influences?
If we are honest, all of us, from time to time has had bouts of doubt and unbelief that has robbed us of time, our focus and energies to create positive change in our life.

It's okay. Each of us are on a journey to manifesting the fullness of our potential. Our potential has needs that when we support it with these ac…

How-to Get Into "Your Zone"

He who knows much about others may be learned, but he who understands himself is more intelligent. He who controls others may be powerful, but he who has mastered himself is mightier still. ~Lao Tzu~
In my post, "What Light's Your Fire?", I challenged you with a clue-in exercise for the purpose of   becoming mindful of the patterns of thoughts, behaviors and activities that inspires you to think, feel, and behave more passionately and confident towards life.
If you haven't  completed the short exercise, I recommend that you click on this link and do so. The wisdom of Lao Tzu in the above quote sheds light on this universal principle, "know yourself to grow yourself".
Mastering Your Mind Chatter
Think back to your childhood. Recall those moments when you and your friends played "red-light/green light, "mother may I" and "hide n seek". Do you remember how oblivious you were to the time when you were engrossed in these and other childhood a…

What Lights Up Your Fire?

If there is no passion in your life, then have you really lived? Find your passion, whatever it may be. Become it, and let it become you and you will find great things happen FOR you, TO you and BECAUSE of you.
~T.Allen Armstrong~

In order for you to create sustainable success and happiness in all areas of your life, it's important that you get clear as to the ways that you can maximize your strengths and passions. One of the most tale tell signs that you are engaging in tasks that "lights up your fire" is the level of productivity and satisfaction that you get from doing them. When you find yourself engaged in these activities, time is of no concern because "all of you", (your spirit, soul andbody)is fully engaged in what you are doing.

I know what you're thinking, "Jackie, I can't just do what I want to do, I've got responsibilities. What I would love to do and what I have to do, is completely two different things!"

I'm not saying that y…
