In the Spirit: How to Maximize Your Opportunities

A key to realizing more of our potential depends on our ability to maximize moments in our life to create and seize opportunities. Are you maximizing your opportunities?
I wrote a blog post about lessons I learned on the importance of maximizing opportunities here.
This week's In the Spirit message Joel Osteen shares a message on how to bloom where you are planted.

You have the power already within you to begin to take purpose-filled steps to manifest the dreams in your heart.

Your potential needs you to believe in yourself.

Make a decision today to take action towards the dreams in your heart.

You have what it takes! Prepare and position yourself to seize opportunities that enable you to grow forward and flourish in life.

7 Tips on How to Be More Fascinating!

Do you see yourself as a fascinating person?

If you were to ask some people in your circles if they considered you fascinating, would more of them say "yes" or "no"?

Why is becoming a person that fascinates others important to your personal and professional life? To a degree, each of us are influencing people in one fashion or another. If you are like most people who regularly read my articles, you are striving to accomplish some really important things in life. You need the help of others to accomplish your aspirations. People who are fascinated by you are more likely to be willing to extend help towards the accomplishment of your aspirations.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not talking about people becoming groupies and losing sight of their own life just so that they can help you or I achieve our dreams and goals.

Becoming more fascinating increases your ability to hold a person's attention as you present your needs, desires and ideas in both your personal and p…

7 Things Your Potential Needs to Be Realized

It is a denial of the divinity within us to deny our potential and possibilities." ~James E. Faust~

In the past weeks, I have had conversations with individuals who have supported me and my professional endeavors for over two decades. Although I haven't worked with any of them in the past decade, our conversations reminded me of why during the periods that we worked together as a team we were able to  accomplish so much.

A Fact of Life: Just because someone is with you does not mean that they are for you. There is a difference. You need to figure out which camp the people in your circles belong to.

These conversations were motivational and insightful. They reminded me of how important it is to live, work and play with people who genuinely have your best interest in mind, and are committed to helping you manifest that which you are striving to accomplish in life.

In the Spirit: Transformation Takes Time

Personal transformation can and does have global effects. As we go, so goes the world, for the world is us. The revolution that will save the world is ultimately a personal one.Marianne Williamson

In order for you and I to be better, do better and experience a better state in life...we have to embrace the process of personal transformation.

Our need for immediate gratification can diminish our capacity to grow forward and flourish in life. It causes us to make snap judgments. We give up too quickly on our efforts to create lasting change in areas of our life that mean the most to us.

When something that we hope for doesn't happen just the way we want, or it seems that it is taking taking too long to materialize, we  move on to something else without realizing how close we were to actually experiencing the very thing that we wanted.

We want change, but we continue to experience internal conflicts that come from our failure to transform our spiritual, mental and emotional states.Pers…

Six Months Left - Are You Getting There?

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing. ~Abraham Lincoln~

At the beginning of each new year, millions of people make resolutions about areas in their life they want to change. At the start of  this year, if you are like most of us you thought about new experiences that would add to your quality of life and you said to yourself and to others, "this is the year to make these things happen".

Based on your results from the previous six months, are you getting there? Have you consistently taken the purpose-filled actions necessary to produce the incremental progress in the areas of your life in which you want to experience positive change?

We both know the challenges that come with wanting to be better, do better, and experience better in life.

We know that life doesn't standstill for perfect moments to happen... so that we can then make time for what we say we want to have in life.

If we really want to have what we say we want …

3 Keys to Making Your Life a Masterpiece

Success without fulfillment is failure. ~Tony Robbins~

Who do you think you are?
You and I...we live our lives based on the beliefs that we have about our self.
In order for you to manifest more of what you want in your life, it is an absolute that you are able to envision your life as the masterpiece that it is divinely designed to be.
Making your life a masterpiece is not just about the amount of possessions that you own. Certainly an abundant mindset enables you to "see" opportunities, and if you are willing to take advantage of them increases your capacity to own more possessions.
Making your life a masterpiece is about how you can unleash the power within you to create personal change over time that produces relevant progress in every aspect of your life.
View the following video by Tony Robbins. Listen with your head and heart as he discusses the three mandates of personal leadership, and why they are essential to your efforts in making your life a masterpiece.

In the Spirit: In You... Right Now...Dwells Greatness!

You are capable of so much more

You can stand up... in the truth...that God's will is that you enjoy life and experience His grace and goodness in abundance.

You've got to make a choice.

You will either continue to think of yourself in a lowly manner which only serves to keep your unique ability contained in a box, or you will choose to see yourself from God's perspective: strong, mighty, talented, successful and a world changer.

In the following video, Joel Osteen encourages us to embrace the "call from within" to soar like a butterfly.

In the coming week, begin to renew your thinking about yourself and what you think you are capable of. God's word continues to be "the" book in my life that builds my confidence and faith that I have access to His power and resources to manifest the vision within my soul.

I encourage you to train your mind. It is our thoughts that drive our behavior. People that you see who are highly successful has had to discipline …

Overcoming Feelings of Disconnection

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”  ~Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning~

Several years ago, I went through this period in which I could sense that something had shifted within me, but I couldn't put my finger on it. The circumstances and associations that once served me well was no longer "feeling" right to me. I kept telling myself that this "too will pass", but it didn't until I gained the awareness of what it meant to live consciously.

Up to this point, my entire identity was tied to being a doer, a hard worker, the go-to person in the companies in which I worked. I was so caught up with my identity of "doing" that I never really learned the importance of just "being". It was not until I began to experience an unrest in my soul which effected my peace of mind that I felt an urgency to determine the cause of why I was "feeling" out of sorts.

When we live 24/7 on…

Finding Personal Meaning in a Crazy World

There are many confusing things in life, and many things that may not obviously appear so are in fact a paradox.~Vittorio Gassman~

Do any of the following statements make sense to you?
We act as though our resources will last forever, instead of replenishing them and building a sustainable future.
There is enough food produced throughout the world to provide sufficient calories for each person on earth. However, hundreds of thousands of people starve to death.
We say the future depends on our children, but we don't spend a lot of time with them. We graduate hundreds of thousands of students each year who cannot read their own high school diplomas.
Many of our teenagers are cut off from positive adult influence, and we wonder why so many of them seek a sense of belonging in gangs. And then we mourn when this alienation and the use of weapons result in killing sprees on school campuses across the nation.
We say we want a world that is built on merit, but who you know has become much more …

Is this Habit Stealing Your Joy and Confidence?

Do not relinquish doing a thing simply because someone  else is not sure of you. ~Stewart E. White~

Whenever we compare ourselves to others, most of the time we do so with limited information and a whole lot of assumptions. And we know that when we assume something to be so, rarely is it the way our mind has concocted it to be.
Recently, I was telling someone about how much I love the Internet, and sharing my belief about it becoming "the" tool that levels the playing field in business.
The following day, I found myself in another conversation with someone speaking from the heart, sharing how difficult they believe it to be for most people who aren't well connected to make a descent living on what I consider to be "the economic equalizer" for the 21st Century. In the middle of this conversation, I realized that the "real" issue wasn't the difficulty of the Internet, but one in which the person was comparing their progress with individuals who has been…

3 Stories that Kept Me Playing Small

Marianne Williamson wrote in her beloved poem, A Return to Love :
"Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve theworld. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you." This is a portion of one of my favorite poems. These sentences provide clues to the "stories" that I was telling myself that resulted in me playing small when I returned to my hometown of Columbia, SC in 2008.

The following "story lines" provides you with a glimpse of the narratives taking place in my mind:
I believed that the people that I loved and cared about the most would think that I was thinking "too much of myself". And, as in the past, I would feel disconnected from many of them because I chose to continue to follow the beat in my soul instead of settling for the status quo, especially since I am now middle age and &qu…
